Lately weve been having alot of coughs, dry throats, sinus issues and dont know if were sick , allergies or issues with our home. I thought this morning maybe its our heat so I went and looked at the forced heat unit and noticed that the humidifier was not dripping water. I even removed the drain hose and it was completely dry so it hasnt worked in some time. It was raining outside and the temps outside are around 50s to upper 60s so should it be on or is it broken? Any tips would be helpful.
It may just be dirty or stopped up with calcium and magnesium deposits. Clean it first (unplugged) before you can someone to troubleshoot. Check to see if the water is comming into it. Good luck!
If the humidifier is hooked to a permanent line, then the reason it’s not on is there is enough humidity in the air already. If it should be on then I would have it serviced by a professional.
Maybe the humidistat is set too low or the water line to the humidifier is shut off. Having it serviced by a professional would be best.
Most humidifiers connected to the central heating will not operate unless the heat is on and the humidistat is set higher than the room humidity.
This should energize the solenoid to allow water to enter the humidifier.
Check the water supply line to make sure it’s on.
Piercing type saddle valves are typically used to connect to an existing water line and can become plugged with sediment especially if the valve was installed at the bottom of the water line where sediment can plug the line. If so try closing the valve and re-opening it.
