Do air humidifier boxes really work? ?

i have alot of damp and condensation in our privately rented flat i have seen a box on ebay which on leaving it in the room can absorb the damp does anyone have any experience of these i dont want to buy one for nothing and i dont want to buy the really expensive ones as its only a rented flat.

    Yes. I have a 10L one I bought from Homesbase. It does get rid of the moisture. You’ll be surprised at how much water they collect. It cost me around £70.

    The mini dehumidifiers are no good for a whole room – just little cupboards, so don’t get one of those for a room.

    I would recommend at least a 10L and most of them say you only need 1 for a whole house – obviously you need to put it somewhere central and open all doors.

    Oh and make sure you use the extractor fan in your bathroom – if you don’t have one, get one fitted. That will help too!

    Even if your flat is rented you can take the dehumidifer with you when you move.

    yess, they work quite well, we had a leak in the science lab and we used one and it took about a week to clear it all up.

    It uses special silicone crystals or something and filters the air.

    but it was a really bad leak, the floor was bubbled up about 3 inches high!!!!!

    Do you mean a dehumidifier? I use one in the basement to keep out the dampness but they do make noise.
