Air Humidifier

myself and my son moved into an in law recently and it gets very dusty daily!!! carpets, walls everything…every time i pick something up i can see things flying in the air!!, every time i sleep i get congested i am going to buy something to sweep up the dust daily but other than that i was wondering if an air purifier would work?….also someone told me that it may make the air in the home very dry….is that a bad thing??!! what can i do to control the dust and whats the help and/or effects of an air purifier????!!!!

I just got a brand new humidifier, for the two main rooms in my home. I also have an air cleaner. I have noticed a super fine white dust near the air cleaner intake only since I have had this humidifier running. Do you think minerals from the water are being put into the air and is it dangerous to breathe this? The humidifier has a brand new filter,and the water is purified.

I am planning to install a furnace humidifier soon. My son has asthma and is very sensitive to dry air. One concern I have is whether the furnace humidifier will grow mold inside the furnace, the humidifier itself or grow mold inside the house. I know that mold is not good for the people with asthma either. I hope that someone with a furnace humidifer can tell me his expereince. Much appreciated. Thanks.

Im in west texas where its really dry, and im really from north texas so im not used to this. My nose is really dry and burning and stinging so i was wondering how to make the air in my room more humid WITHOUT a humidifier.

My apartment is very dry. It was suggested to me to purchase a humidifier. I have also been looking at air purifiers. What really is the main differences between them. What would you recommend.

In the winter months, is it better to run your de-humidifier and reduce the amount of moisture in the air, or should you not run it? Which would leave the basement the warmest?

The builder advised me to run a de-humidifier in the basement to get some of the moisture out. However, the air in the house is very cold and dry and I am thinking about getting a humidifier installed. Would that be counter-productive to the de-humidifier?

I understand that it puts moisture in the air, but what exactly does that do and what else does a humidifier do?

I use both non stop at night recently. My baby wakes up stuffy nosed so I got a cool mist humidifier it seems to help when the heater dries the air up…But is it dangerous for her? AND it is a pretty small room we share. I keep the humidifier clean. The heater is a handy 10 dollar from wal mart smallish compact but man it puts heat off, very handy can be a fan too.

The air is just so dry that I need to get a humidifier for my home. I would like to get a good one, but I also don’t want to spend tons of money.

My 4 month old keeps waking himself with this dry cough and will only be soothed with nursing. I think the air is too dry so I want to get a humidifier. We live near Philadelphia and the winter air is cold and dry.

Which would you recommend? What did you pay?

I understand that a steamer is hot air. However, if a humidifier puts mosture in the air can it do the same for my hair with cool air?

Please . . .only provide information on WARM mist humidifier under .00. Also, please don’t suggest any that are dual — has both warm and cool air available in the same humidifier.

Please make sure the humidifier is still made. There are so many choose from and so many places you can buy them.

I have a revolving drum furnace humidifier that puts moisture in the air by evapoating water from a rotating foam drum (about 6" diamater, 8" long). As the water evaporates, mineral deposits (hard white granules) from my water build up on the drum (I expect mostly silicates, but don’t really know). Is there something I could soak the foam in that would desolve the residue?

I recently purchased a humidifier that says it can humidify enough sq. ft. to cover my whole house. I know that heat rises, so my downstairs central heater unit does more work than my upstairs unit. What I don’t know, though, is the best place to put the humidifier. Will the moisture from the humidifier rise with the warm air or will it sink, given the greater weight of the moisture cause it to sink?

It is an open floor plan, so the air circulates really well between the floors.

Can a heat pump actually adjust the amount of humidity in the air, or is a separate humidifier/dehumidifier unit necessary?

I am thinking about getting a humidifer because I have sinus problems and get bloddy noses in the winter. However, I stay at hotels 2 nights a week because I travel a lot for work and would not have access to a humidifier. Would I be better off not using the humidifier at all so I can build up a tolerance to the dry air? Or, will using the humidifier at home 5 nights be not make my problems worse the other 2 nights?

His cough is really wet and crackly. He has clear snot coming out his nose. He does not have a fever. He coughs in his sleep. I have his head elevated when lying down. I’ve put peppermint in his humidifier, which releases cold air.

can you use a whole house humidifier during the summer while your still using the a/c –humidify is low, any suggestions, 2 month old house w/ whole house humidifier installed, hvac people left a note to turn the humidifier off after summer?

I live in cold Chicago and I wanted to get a humidifier to moisten the air for my health, but I am low on money right now. Would it be as effective to boil water in my kitchen to humidify my small apartment as buying a humidifier?
